Shane Watson kept batting with a constantly bleeding knee during the IPL final between Chennai Superkings and Mumbai Indians

Several pictures and videos have emerged revealing that during the IPL final between Chennai Superkings and Mumbai Indians on Sunday evening, Shane Watson played with a constantly bleeding knee.

Watson who is one of the top players for CSK, played a crucial knock of 80 runs in 59 balls. Though CSK ultimately fell one run short of winning the title for a record 4th time.

Sharing a picture of Watson in action, his teammate Harbhajan on Instagram said that the opener had received six stitches on his left leg after the game. He had incurred an accident in the game while diving, but he continued through to keep CSK alive in the chase of 150.

“Can you guys see the blood on his knee… He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone,” Harbhajan wrote.

Watson’s clinical 80 kept CSK comfortable in the chase amid the regular fall of wickets. They had indeed got off to a great start with CSK getting two decent partnerships at the start of the match before successive wickets of middle-order batters dented their hope.

The Aussie stayed strong and batted till the final over of the match before being run out in the fourth delivery. CSK, who went six down, lost the grip and ended one run short of MI’s target. Lasith Malinga had successfully defended eight runs in the final over.
