The BJP for long has prompted the ‘Gujarat model’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the perfect blueprint for nation’s development. BJP claims that during Narendra Modi’s Chief Ministerial tenure, state of Gujarat witnessed unprecedented development, and that the same model could be implemented throughout the nation.
Whereas, the BJP’s arch-rival Congress party has always rejected the ‘Gujarat model’, as just a media created ‘hoax’. However, now for perhaps the first time ever, a senior Congress leader came out to not only recognize the Gujarat model but further urged to follow the same in his home state.
Inaugrating the 4th state conference of Credai Kerala, Shashi Tharoor urged the real estate giants to follow the ‘Gujarat model’ to rebuild flood affected coastal state. He said that Gujarat model of reconstruction after the severe earthquakes of 2001, is an excellent example to be implemented in Kerala. “We should learn from Gujarat and follow the methods implemented there,” Tharoor said.
The senior Congress leader, said that Kerala is in need of a socially committed and sustainable model of reconstruction.
“But sustainable model of construction will not happen when deforestation and illegal constructions are damaging the environment. “We need more expertise in building homes that can resist and survive landslides,” he added.
He also stressed on implementing latest technologies, constructing durable buildings and using eco-friendly construction methods.
