1) Uttarakhand: Rail research centre to come up at IIT-Roorkee

Union Ministry of Railways will soon set up a rail research centre at IIT, Roorkee.

Giving the information at a press conference here today, Director of the institute Pradipta Banerjee said the process for establishing the rail research centre has already begun at the institute.

2) Puducherry: Government keen on starting work on super speciality hospital:N. Rangasamy

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy has said government was keen on commencing construction works for the Rs 38-crore super-speciality hospital project.

Speaking at an Iftar party held in Karaikal last night, the Chief Minister said government was paying special attention to improve healthcare facilities at Karaikal.

“Super-speciality hospital construction works will begin next month and the Government has earmarked Rs 38 crore for the project,” he said.

3) Jammu and Kashmir: 7,000 youths from Jammu & Kashmir to be trained under Udaan

At least 7,000 youths from Jammu and Kashmir will soon be trained for various skills to be absorbed in reputed companies like Tata and Reliance under a special scheme.

The youths with graduate and post graduate degrees will be picked from across the state, including militancy-prone towns like Sopore, under the Centrally sponsored scheme Udaan, a special scheme launched to help youths from Jammu and Kashmir to get jobs in top companies.

4) Kerala: Bus-Stations to Have Wi-Fi, FM Radios in Kerala’s Chengannur

Traditional bus stands with dusty seatings and leaky roofs are all set to give way to hi-tech and eco-friendly ones in Chengannur in Alappuzha district of Kerala.

As many as 25 smart bus stations, with facilities ranging from wi-fi and FM radios to newspaper kiosks and laptop resting pads, will soon come up there as part of an ambitious development programme.

Seeking to improve the basic infrastructure of the constituency, authorities are getting ready to set up innovative bus stations in selected panchayats there.

5) Haryana: Large industrial units to be set up in all districts: Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that the state government has formulated a new policy under which one large industrial unit or a large industrial project would be established in each of the 21 districts of the state.

6) Orissa: 15 Lakh People Witness Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra

The Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri turned a sea of humanity as nearly 15 lakh people watched the millennium’s first Nabakalebara Rath Yatra today.

Despite the unfortunate incident that left two women killed and 10 others injured. religious fervour was at fever pitch with cries of ‘Jai Jagannath’ renting the air.

7) Andhra Pradesh: CM N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurates urban forest park ‘Amravathi’

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today inaugurated urban forest park ‘Amravathi’ at Kotturu Tadepalli village near here.

On the occasion, Naidu said the state government has decided to develop 15 such parks in all the 13 districts of the state and the move will check air pollution

8) Maharashtra: Monsoon Session Assembly passes Right to Service bill

Soon, citizens will be assured of crucial services from the state government and local bodies within a specified time-frame with the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly passing the Right to Service bill on Tuesday.

So far, about 10 government departments have notified a total of 110 services that would be provided under the Maharashtra Guarantee of Public Services bill, popularly known as Right to Service.
