Subramanian Swamy slams Asaduddin Owaisi over his statement about the religion of martyrs

New Delhi : BJP leader Subramanian Swamy launched scathing attack on AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi for his comment about religion of Sunjuwan martyrs. Swami asked the Hyderabad MP to think about the religion of those who are attacking the army.

“Owaisi can count Muslims army men killed. But can he also count how many Muslims are in terrorists organisation attacking the army,” asked Swami on Twitter. The reaction from Swamy came after Asaduddin Owaisi attempted to highlight the fact that five out of six armymen who made the supreme sacrifice at Sunjuwan were Muslims.

Hitting out at what he called “9pm nationalists” who question the allegiance of the Indian Muslims, Owaisi had said, “Those who call Indian Muslims Pakistani should learn something from this. We (Muslims) are sacrificing our lives (for the country),” as quoted by ANI.

Not only Swamy but people belonging to different fronts from all over country have criticized the attempts of Owaisi to communalize the army. Slamming Owaisi’s statement, Northern Command chief Lt Gen D Anbu said, “We take on the religion of our troops and we do not communalize any of them. There is ‘sarva dharma sthal’ in every formation.”

The General went on to say that the participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the funeral prayers of the martyred soldiers was a “testimony for all those who wanted to communalise it.”

On February 10, a group of heavily armed Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) terrorists entered the camp after hurling grenades and using automatic weapons. Ten others, including six women and children, were injured in the attack.
