Thane police suspends five police officers for giving VIP treatment to Dawood’s brother in Thane prison

Thane police of Maharashtra has reportedly suspended 5 cops which include a sub-inspector and four other personnel for allegedly giving VIP treatment to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar. Iqbal is in Thane prison for over a year.

There revelation was made in a sting operation conducted by Times of India. After the matter came into light, Thane police commisioner ordered suspension of the five five cops who had given special treatment to Kaskar. A probe into the matter has also been initiated.

In the viral clip, Iqbal Kaskar can be seen sitting in a private car, having biryani and meeting people inside jail premises. Weeks before the sting emerged, there were reports about Dawood using his nephews to send messages to brother Iqbal Kaskar in Thane prison.

Kaskar was arrested in September of last year from his home while he was having Biriyani, for extorting 30 lakhs and four flats from a local builder. The arrest was done on the basis of the complaint filed by the builder.

After being arrested, Iqbal Kaskar’s son and older brother reached Mumbai to meet Kaskar in Thane prison. The police sources added that the duo stayed at a relative’s place in Gamdevi area in south Mumbai.
