There were several Prime Ministers from my family but none like Modi: Varun Gandhi

Gandhi family scion and BJP leader Varun Gandhi on Sunday said that while there have been several Prime Ministers from his family, none was like Prime Minister Modi.

“Vajpayeeji was from a normal family but had never seen abject poverty. Modiji is from an economically weaker family. Honestly speaking, some people of my family have also been prime ministers but the honour that Prime Minister Modi has brought to the country hasn’t been seen in the long past,” said Varun while addressing a gathering at Rampura Fakira village of Pooranpur block of Pilibhit District, from where he is contesting the elections.

Gandhi said there was not a single spot of corruption on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that’s why people were again going to choose him as their “chowkidar”.

“In five years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not a single accusation of corruption. There are no corruption charges on him. For whom would he do corruption when he has no one else in his family? This person is only living for the country and would die for the country. He is only worried about the country,” Varun Gandhi said.

“The party has expressed faith in me and my mother,” he said about his being fielded from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency.

Varun, who is an incumbent MP from Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency, is contesting the impending Lok Sabha polls from Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency, a seat which was long held by his mother Maneka Gandhi.

Further, Maneka Gandhi will be contesting from Varun Gandhi’s earlier constituency, Sultanpur.
Pilibhit will be going to polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 23.
