Times Now Deputy News Editor caught lying on Twitter

On 8th May 2018, Thirumani, a young tourist from Chennai was killed by the Kashmiri separatist stone-pelters in Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The entire nation was in a state of sorrow because of this tragic incident, this news was discussed almost for an entire day in several Media houses.

Deputy News Editor and Tamil Nadu Bureau Chief of Times Now, Shabbir Ahmed, posted a tweet, which apparently was a statement made by the father of Thirumani. Unfortunately the tweet is not entirely true.

When we watch the actual video by Times Now which was referred by Shabbir Ahmed, the father of the deceased said that no one from the Central Government hasn’t met him yet. He further added that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaadi Palanisamy and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam didn’t meet him, but all the other Minsters of State Government met him and provided their condolences. It has also been reported that Tamil Nadu Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture, Ma Foi K.Pandiarajan even handed over funds through a cheque, when he visited the family of the deceased.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Tamilisai Soundarajan had met the father of the deceased as a representative of the BJP led Central Government. These pictures have been widely circulated in social media.

Former BJP MP Tarun Vijay had also organized a meeting to pay homage to the deceased and also to discuss this issue in order to pressurise the Kashmir government to take strict actions on the accused stone pelters.

When such events had happened, how did Ahmed Shabbir tweet, “None from Central & State Government attended his son funeral”? This in-spite of the fact that Thirumani’s father had corrected himself on the same video. Clearly this tweet has exposed his agenda to defame the Central and State Government by hiding certain facts.

Certain Tamil media houses have been extremely biased on this issue. When various Media channels across India had discussed this issue for hours condemning stone pelters, most of the Tamil media houses just gave a vague coverage to this issue and didn’t even condemn this cruel activity of the Kashmiri separatist stone pelters. As the deceased is of Tamil origin, the Tamil media should have given maximum coverage condemning stone pelters, which didn’t happen.

Why didn’t Tamil media raise their voice against the Kashmiri separatist stone pelters? Most of the Tamil Media didn’t give this news as much coverage as they did to a recent hit job on NEET?

Also there has been not a single statement from DMK working President Stalin, MDMK founder Vaiko, PMK Leader Dr Andumani Ramadoss and Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Sebastian Seeman on this tragic issue. It is to be noted that Seeman has shared a stage with Kashmiri separatists Yasin Malik and Geelani in the past to condemn violence against Kashmiris.

We can see only silence from actor turned politician, Kamal Haasan, who usually talks only on those issues which can be manipulated into anti-state or anti-central government. Clearly the silence for Thirumani exposes certain Tamil Journalists, Tamil Politicians and all the self-proclaimed saviours of the Tamil society
