All roads lead to Rome! Yesterday, there was a sensational development in Tamil Nadu. A 22-year-old girl, Anushka was found dead on the railway tracks near the Thazhayuthu village of Tirunelveli District. A Christian evangelist named Joshua Immanuel Raj appears to be the prime suspect. The man runs an evangelical organisation and a church in the village.
The accused had promised a job to the girl and later raped her multiple times. She had filed a complaint with the local police station. The Police arrested Joshua and Vinoth Kumar, another evangelist working under him.
The local people have reported that Joshua has habit of luring women and girls in the name of prayer. Yesterday, the woman was found dead on a railway track near Tiruchendur. She did not leave any suicide note. Her kith and kin do not report any suicidal tendencies. The mainstream media is maintaining the usual deafening silence. But the police have not ruled out a murder angle. Though local news channels are reporting that the dead body was found under suspicious circumstances, some news channels (such as the one below) seem to be in a hurry to close the matter as an open & shut case of suicide.
The small village has a population of 9,000. It is located 8 km north of Tirunalveli on NH 7, connecting Tirunalveli to Madurai.
