The AIADMK general council, expected to meet on December 29, is likely to elect its next General Party Secretary. Sources from within the party suggest that J Jayalalithaa’s close confidante, Sasikala Natarajan, is scheduled to be present in the meet and might be suggested for the Top Job.

Sasikala Pushpa, the expelled Rajaya Sabha MP of AIADMK, has been a vocal critic of the functioning the party. She suspected foul play in the death of Ex-CM of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa and demanded an impartial CBI propbe to be conducted. On 18th December 2016. she had moved a plea to Supreme Court for CBI probe into Jayalalithaa’s death.

Right from the day she (Jayalalithaa) was admitted, till she was declared dead, CBI must conduct judicial inquiry. Tamil Nadu people suspect Sasikala Natarajan and her family might have done something in Amma’s death,” Pushpa said.

Sasikala Pushpa, had also submitted a written petition in the Madras High Court to prevent Sasikala Natrajan from taking over the party reins.

Pushpa in her suit has submitted that the primary eligibility to contest the election to the post of General Secretary was that the contestant must have been a primary member of the party continuously for five years as per the AIADMK bye-laws and Sasikala did not fulfill this norm. The Madras High Court has reserved its judgement on this issue.

Today, four lawyers from Sasikala Pushpa’s team, had reached AIADMK office in Chennai to submit a letter against the consideration of Sasikala Natarajan for the AIADMK General Secretary post. In a surprise turn of events, Sasikala Pushpa’s Lawyer and Husband have been heckled and beaten up by AIADMK workers.

With so much rivalry brewing within the AIADMK Party, one can wonder who will assume top Leadership post in the party. Will it be Jaya’s aide Sasikala Natarajan, current CM O Paneerselvam or in a surprise turn of events a third member from within the party?
