Violence erupts again in West Bengal; BJP’s Bharati Ghosh attacked, not allowed to enter into polling station

Former IPS officer and BJP’s Ghatal candidate Bharati Ghosh was heckled this morning at a polling station in her constituency where she reached following reports that her polling agent was not being allowed to enter.

According to reports from Times Now and ANI, her vehicle was vandalized in the attack along with that of security forces and media. There was more chaos when vehicles in her convoy was vandalized. The BJP has alleged that Trinamool workers are behind the attack.

“I am the candidate. I am being pushed around and heckled. Those assaulting me and preventing my polling agent to enter the booth should be arrested,” said Ghosh.

“TMC supporters pushed me to the ground. They are not allowing any polling to be held in Keshpur area. These women were hired by the TMC. I shall complain in writing to the ECI (Election Commission of India),” she alleged.

Ghosh was the superintendent of police in West Midnapore district for six years from 2011 to 2017 in which her constituency is located. Bharati Ghosh is taking on Bengali actor-turned-lawmaker Deepak (Dev) Adhikari of the Trinamool Congress in Ghatal.
