Viral video: Zakir Musa’s father says his son died for establishment of a caliphate and not for the so-called freedom

In a video which is going viral on the Internet, father of slain Al-Qaeda operative Zakir Musa can be heard saying that his son died for establishment of a caliphate and not for the so called freedom of Jammu and Kashmir.

Musa’s father in the video says that all the mujahids (terrorists) are fighting for the cause of Allah and that they must be united. He further hoes on to say that his son’s aim to was establishment of a caliphate, not some freedoms based on ethnic grounds as sought by some separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. The video was shared on twitter by former Army officer, Major Gaurav Arya.

Former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Police, SP Vaid also reacted to the video, saying “If this is what parents of killed terrorists think, you can imagine the malaise in Kashmir society. Something is seriously wrong.”

Zakir Musa, the head of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an affiliate of the terror group Al-Qaeda, was killed in an encounter in Dadsara village of Tral in the south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on March 24 after forces launched a search operation late Thursday evening following specific information about the presence of militants there.

Officers said efforts were made to make Zakir Musa surrender, but the request fell on deaf ears and he lobbed grenades on the forces using a launcher, triggering a gunfight in which Zakir Musa was killed in the early hours of Friday.

His killing led to spontaneous shutdown and protests in the valley.
