West Bengal: BJP leading in the constituency where people were arrested for raising “Jai Shree Ram” slogans

Couple of weeks ago, a video had surfaced showing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee getting enraged at some boys who were raising slogans of “Jai Shree Ram” at a village in Mednipur District. Mamata apperantly took the slogans very personally. Later, the boys to raise the slogans were even arrested by the state police.

Today since morning, BJP candidate Dilip Ghosh is maintaining steady lead over native and veteran leader, TMC candidate Manas Ranjan Bhunia at Mednipur. It is being believed that people in Mednipur did not take Mamata’s anger for Jai Shri Ram slogans very well, which is reflected by today’s results.

Three villagers were detained for chanting Jai Shri Ram, while the convoy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee passed through a village in West Midnapore.

After hearing the chants, Mamata had got down from her car and yelled at the villagers. She had also proceeded to claim that the chants were abusive.
