West Bengal Congress Leader files complaint against Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’

A Congress party member named Rajeev Sinha has lodged a complaint against the producers popular web series Sacred Games for showing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in poor light.

In a complaint lodged in the Girish Park Police Station in Kolkata, Rajeev has said that the programme has a scene wherein the protagonist of the serial Nawazuddin Siduqqui is seen abusing the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and calling him names, insulting the late Prime Minister. Rajeev, has asked the police to book them under relevant sections of IPC and Information Technology Act.

The complaint has been copied to the Commissioner of Police; Joint Commissioner (Crime) Lalbazaar, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Division for taking needful action against Netflix, the producers of the serial.

What is Sacred Games?

A popular web series produced by Netflix based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 thriller novel with the same name. The web series has got international acclaim in New York Times. The New York Times applauded the web series for its loose-limbed satire and stylized melodrama and its non generic content.
