On Thursday West Bengal BJP took out a protest March at Nabadwipa city of Nadia District, West Bengal. The protest March was from Rail gate to BDO office. The protest was against a said Slaughter house which will be built by the state government over the tomb of Tirakudi Gosain, a Hindu Saint of Gaudiya tradition. Nabadwipa is one of the Holy cities in Bengal, and is the place where Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared. The city is also the birthplace of the Gaudiya tradition, which the Hare Krsna Movement follows. To Bengali Hindus, Nabadwipa is as holy as Kashi, Ayodhya or Vrindavan. The Hindus of Nabadwipa has been protesting against the building of Slaughter house from a long time, and now the State BJP has taken up the issue.
The chairman of Nabadwipa municipality, assured that the Slaughter house will not be built over the tomb, rather it will be built in an outer part of the city, away from any religious place. But the local Hindus do not seem to be trusting the municipality chairman, as they are going to continue their protest.
This is not the first time when the Hindus of Nabadwipa expressed dissatisfaction towards the government. Just days ago, on 21st July during a party function at Kolkata, CM of West Bengal said to her party members to put their arms above their heads in air, and in instructing how exactly to do it, she said “Bhajo Gauranga Karo” Which means do the pose of Bhaja Gauranga (chanting the name of gauranga), this pose is done by the followers of Gaudiya tradition, when they do Kirtan or chant the name of Gauranga (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu). This comment did not went well with the Hindus of Nabadwipa and devotees of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
