Women molested, only male member brutally assaulted: Hindu family in Muslim dominated village of Begusarai being forced to vacate their ancestral house

A Hindu family from Muslim dominated Nurpur village of Bihar’s Beguserai district has alleged that their neighbours are forcing them to abandon their ancestral house. Further in a police complaint, the family alleged that on the intervening night of 10th and 11th June, some masked men along with one local whom they identified as Laddu Alam, son of Feroze Alam, forced into their house, molested two women and tried to kill the only male member.

They allegedly threatened the family that the locality has few Hindu families and thus they wouldn’t be able to do much. “Even Bajrang Dal won’t help you,” the men allegedly told the family.

The complainant, Munni Kumari has stated that three men entered their house at 1am in the night and started molesting her, and her mother. They also brutally assaulted her brother. A scuffle broke out between the women, a scuffle broke out between the family and the intruders. After much struggle, the family somehow managed to escape from the grip of the aggressors.

Munna Kumar, the brother of complainant and the only male member of the family has told Swarajya that the aggressors have given them an ultimatum of one week to vacate their house. He further said that the men also boasted about having contacts with local Congress leadership.

Munna said theirs is one of the only two Hindu houses among about 200 Muslim families. The Muslims, he said, have been pressuring them for a few months to leave the area. “We have told them that this house belongs to our ancestors and there is no way we are leaving. But they use force. They beat me up last month also,” he said.
