The Cyclone Vardah has created rippling waves of terror to an already battered Chennai City. Around 12,000 trees have been uprooted and the whole of Chennai City has been plunged into darkness for nearly 3-4 days with absolutely no access to Telephone or Mobile network.
The State Government had made all the right moves on Sunday Night, they had announced Holiday to all Schools/Colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts. The State Government requested the presence of NDRF on stand by, also Chennai Corporation was on high alert to tackle the situation. Government had also urged all Private IT Organizations to follow their instructions and provide Holiday to its employees on Monday (12th December 2016), which was predicted to be maximum impact of Cyclone, owing to safety concerns.
Expect for IT major Infosys and other small IT companies, Wipro/TCS refused to declare a Holiday on Monday. Not only has this unwise decision resulted in a big loss to these majors but they have also exposed their employees to unprecedented levels of DANGER.
Watch how a bus full of TCS employees near Siruseri (Chennai) got overturned by Cyclone Vardah and these employees were rescued by a Human Chain by their daring colleagues. Kudos to all those who were involved in this act of BRAVERY.
But the lingering question is… Should IT companies like these be punished by the Government for putting their employees in GRAVE DANGER? Please post your views as comments.
