Yet another Hindu temple desecrated, this time in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri

According to reports, on Sunday a mob from the Muslim community attacked on a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Gauria village. As per the reports, on Sunday morning, tensions broke out between Hindu and Muslim communities when some people attempted to construct a sewage channel next to the temple, desire stong objections from the devotees.

The argument turned violent after a group of Muslims attacked the temple premises and damaged the structure. According to the Hindus in the village, who are reportedly the minority community, Muslims not only vandalised their temple but also attacked and injured one person.

The Hindu villagers have alleged that some from the Muslim community look out for opportunities to target the Hindu community and drive them out of the area. The villagers claim that Wasim, Sharafath Khan alias Nasir Khan, Rashid had threatened to demolish of the temple earlier too.

The villagers have further claimed that Wasim is a history-sheeter and that he wanted dig a drain despite one being already present to disturb the Hindus and ultimately attack the temple.

The Kheri police have confirmed the incident and tweeted that they have registered a complaint against the accused. The Kheri police said that an investigation has been initiated.
