Youth Congress mouthpiece circulates fake video claiming to be of Commander Abhinandan’s wife

From past 36 hours or so, a video is making rounds on social media, in which a woman proclaiming herself to be wife of an armyman, is seen urging the government to not politicise the exploits of the soldiers. Along with the video, it is also being claimed that that the women seen in the video, is wife of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.

The claim is completely false, and till now we have not been able to ascertain whether the woman is really related to any soldier or not. The video with the false claim was circulated by various top politicians of the country including Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The official twitter handle of Yuva Desh magazine, which is the mouthpiece for youth Congress, also shared the video, along with the misinformation about the woman being wife of Abhinandan Varthaman.

However, after multiple users pointed out the mistake, Yuva Desh Magazine’s twitter handle issued a clarification saying that even though the woman is not wife of Abhinandan Varthaman, but the questions raised by her are very relevant. “Clarification Clarification Clarification. So, Apologies. She is not Abhinandan’s wife. She is the wife of some other army personnel as claimed by her. Although she is making some very relevant points that everyone in the country should be concerned about,” said the Yuva Desh Magazine in its clarification.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who has emerged as a national war hero in past couple of days, is married to Tanvi Marwaha, who herself is an Airforce official.

Ever since Abhinandan was taken into custody by Pakistani Army after his plane crashed into the territory of their control, Tanvi has not come out on any public platform. Abhinandan’s father, who is a former Air Marshall of India, has however made it clear that they are very much proud of the Wing Commander.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down a Pakistani F16 fighter jet, which was trying to bomb military installations in India. However soon-after, his own plane also crashed on Pakistani side due to technical glitches. He was taken into the custody of Pakistan Army on Wednesday. A day after, facing much pressure from the international community, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced of releasing Abhinandan on Friday.
